Assam black tea is produced in the Brahmaputra river valley in northeast India, one of the world's largest tea-growing regions. It is characterised by a full-bodied liquor, deep amber colour, and pronounced malty character that performs consistently in high-volume blending, tea bag filling, and RTD chai formulations.
Starlon Naturals supplies Assam CTC grades and Assam Orthodox grades. Sourcing is direct from gardens with documented lot-level traceability.
Dooars are grown in the sub-Himalayan plains of West Bengal, between the Teesta and Sankosh rivers. They produce a smooth, medium-bodied liquor with a golden amber colour and mild, balanced character. Dooars CTC grades are widely used in value blends, institutional catering packs, and mass-market tea bags.
Nilgiri black teas from Tamil Nadu and Kerala are noted for their bright liquor, brisk character, and clean aromatic finish. Both CTC and Orthodox Nilgiri grades are available from Starlon Naturals. Nilgiri grades are particularly well-suited to Iced Tea formulations and RTD tea beverages requiring a clean, low-astringency base.
CTC processing mechanically crushes, tears, and curls the leaf into uniform pellets. The method produces a high-extraction tea that brews rapidly with a strong colour and consistent flavour profile across batches. CTC grades are the preferred choice for tea bags, vending machines, chai blends, and high-volume institutional supply.
Orthodox processing preserves the leaf structure through traditional rolling and oxidation, producing larger leaf grades with more nuanced, complex flavour profiles. Orthodox grades are suited to premium loose-leaf blends, specialty retail packs, and export markets in Europe, the Middle East, and North America.
